Accessorizing My Car With Safety Features

I got my first car the day after I turned 21 years old. My dad gave it to me as a birthday present. Three years after, that first car is still with me. It does not look new or fancy, but it is still in excellent shape.

My father gave me a different birthday present for my last birthday. He gave me several accessories for my car. There were floor mats, a heated travel mug, an iPhone holder, and a triple gauge kit. He also gave me a reversing camera, which easily became my favorite.

My father has been using reversing cameras for years. He has two cars, an SUV and an AUV, and both are equipped with one. My dad said that the camera will help ensure my safety when driving, especially at night. I am a traveling salesman, so I drive to different places five times a week.

The weekend after my birthday, my dad visited me in the apartment I shared with my girlfriend. We had lunch and then worked on the installation of my reversing camera. The device came with an instruction manual that was easy to follow and understand, so we didn’t have a difficult time installing it. Also, my dad has become some sort of an expert since he has previously installed two reversing cameras of the same kind.

We went out for a drive after successfully installing the device. My dad instructed me to go to crowded places like the mall and the supermarket. The reversing camera was a big help as I did not have to break my neck trying to see if there was something or somebody at the rear end of my car every time I backed out of the parking area. I now feel extra confident and secure when driving.

My Battle With Neck Pain

For the most part of my working life, I have been sitting in front of the computer while doing all the work stuff I needed to do. I rarely go out of the office, so I spend majority of the day seated, thus putting pressure on the same muscles. Eventually, my spine started feeling the pressure and I developed bad sitting posture.

When I started experiencing neck pain that extended to the shoulders, I paid my doctor a visit. He told me that my body was beginning to complain because it has been holding on to a particular uncomfortable and wrong position for a long time already. The body, he added, was not meant to endure this kind of pressure. Furthermore, he told me that although I did not notice it, I probably spent a lot of time leaning towards the computer when working. And this is a big part of what caused the neck pains. This radiates all the way into the shoulders and, later on, to the back and can even result to headaches.

My doctor also asked me about my sleeping position. I told him that I slept on my left side most of the time. He said this may have also contributed to the neck pains, especially if I was not using the right kind of pillow. I was not. I used an ordinary pillow that sometimes felt too soft for comfort. He advised me to check out some pillows for neck pain.

I looked for them through some online shops my doctor suggested, and I found exactly what I needed. I now have one of the best pillows for neck pain by my side every night.

I know it’s still a long journey, but at least I don’t find myself crying in desperate pain anymore.

Using Books to Sustain Interest In the Classroom

Getting the attention of 10 five-year olds is never easy, especially when you put them together in one room. This is the dilemma I face every morning inside my kindergarten classroom. My kids are a lively, precocious bunch. They love running around the classroom and know how to behave in class. Unfortunately, it can be sometimes difficult to make them interested in something for a long time.

After doing some research, I finally found the perfect solution to this dilemma: books. I changed our activities routine. Instead of the regular question and answer activity that we used to have after a particular talk, I started a storytelling cum book reading session. I asked each of my kindergartners to bring their favorite book to class. Then we would agree on which book to read for that day. In the beginning, I simply sat on the floor with my kids. Later on, though, I started to use puppets and storyboards to make things more interesting. Sometimes, I would create PowerPoint presentations and then flash the story to my little geniuses on a big TV screen. They love every minute of our storytelling time!

Of course, I make sure that the stories we read are good. I choose books with stories or characters that my kindergartners can relate to. For example, we’ve already read around three stories from the junie b. jones book list; and we’ve also read some of the more popular stories like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. Our book choices vary because this allows us to have really interesting post-storytelling conversations. You should listen to my kids discuss the story and the characters. They are awesome!

Reading is an important part of every child’s development. I am glad to have found a way to inculcate that truth to my little kindergartners.

Tips for A Better Comb Binding Experience

My boss requires me to compile important paperwork on a weekly basis. Whether it is a simple inter-office memo or correspondence from a client, weekly reports or training materials, I am tasked to organize them and bind them at the end of every work week. In the beginning, I simply put them inside one big Manila envelope. Later on, though, my boss gave me something that practically lessened my burden.

My boss bought a plastic comb binding machine. He said he intended to make my work easier by doing so, and I am just so happy that he did. The machine has really helped me a lot! This particular binding machine is simple and easy-to-use, perfect for a no-frills person like me. Despite its simplicity, though, it is able to come up with really good looking professional documents.

In the months that followed, I discovered more interesting things about the plastic comb binding machine that help make my work easier.

I discovered the benefits of using different colors of plastic combs. They are best used when you want your documents to be easily noticed. I used red and blue a lot because it was easy to spot them even from far away. I also used the colors to segregate the document types.

My plastic comb binding machine is best for documents on letter-sized paper. I discovered later on that it was possible to bind small-sized documents by using disengageable dies. I told my boss about this and he told me it is already in his list. We’ll need to buy a new binding machine, though.

Lastly, I also learned that opening the comb too abruptly or too much will cause the comb to fly off. Opening the comb slowly and gently is the secret to a durable and efficient machine.

It’s great to see Melanie B., Melanie C., Emma, Geri and Victoria reuniting and closing the London Olympics with a superb performance.

Remembering All Saints

One of the groups that made the 90s a hit. I really missed Shaznay Lewis, Melanie Blatt, and Nicole and Natalie Appleton.
